Recipe Tips
If you don't have red wine on hand, you can substitute it with beef stock or even apple juice. The flavor will be slightly different, but still delicious.
If you want a thicker sauce, you can add a cornstarch slurry to the sauce after it is done cooking. Simply mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and whisk into the sauce. Simmer for a few minutes until the sauce has thickened.
For extra flavor, you can add carrots, mushrooms, or other vegetables to the slow cooker. They will cook along with the short ribs and add great flavor to the dish.
